Other Services

Accessibility Audits and Training

A web site accessibility audit examines and evaluates a web site for its accessibility and general usability; provides recommendations for solving accessibility and usability problems; and recommends a phased priority-based strategy for implementing the recommendations in a practical and effective manner. InfoQuest! offers two types of accessibility audits:

  • Quick Accessibility Snapshot
We will conduct a brief review of some sample web pages/templates, using some automated accessibility and HTML standards validators, along with a manual "initial impressions" review, and write a report that provides suggestions on how to bring your web site into compliance with accessibility guidelines.

  • Full or Custom Accessibility Audit
This includes everything in the Snapshot but is customized to meet the particular needs of the client. The audit covers a broader and more in depth review of the web site , such as
    1. evaluations of more pages with both automated validators and a manual evaluation to locate problems that the automated tools don't identify
    2. a comparison of the reviewed pages with the Web Content Accessibility Guidelines and Section 508 standards
    3. usability testing involving a heuristic evaluation and/or evaluation of the site by users who are disabled using available assistive technologies, and
    4. a write-up of results, with recommendations for phased implementation of solutions.

InfoQuest! also provides training about web site accessibility. The basic training package is a half-day on-site training on web site accessibility and usability for two to ten people. The training session includes hand-outs and focuses on the following topics:

  • What is web site accessibility?
  • Why is it important?
  • Benefits and costs.
  • Accessibility guidelines, regulations, and laws.
  • Accessibility standards.
  • How to make your web site accessible.
  • Examples.

We also provide customized training. We will present accessibility and usability principles that are customized to your web site. Customized training includes a Quick Accessibility Snapshot of some of your web pages and recommendations on how you can make your web site accessible.

Information Resources Assessment

InfoQuest! evaluates businesses information needs: the kinds of information needed for operations, research, development, marketing, etc. We examine how information is used in the organization and at what resources are being currently used. We recommend an information resources strategy for the company that includes what print, microform and electronic information they should have in-house, what can be outsourced, and how to maximize the company's knowledge potential through the development of a corporate intranet.

InfoQuest! also trains businesses how to evaluate and make the best use of information and information resources. The training is customized to meet the needs of the business, focusing on those resources that are most applicable to the specific operations of the business. Businesses learn how to relevantly formulate questions so their research is focused and on-target.InfoQuest!'s formal seminars include: Making the Most of Resources for Business Research, International Trade Resources, Online Databases: What They Are and When to Use Them, Techniques for Searching Across Systems and Files, and Electronic U.S. Government Resources.

Customized Internet and Online Research Training

InfoQuest! offers training in how to use the Internet. We provide both customized one-on-one training and seminars covering how to conduct research on the Internet, business uses of the Internet, and finding topic-related information on the Internet.
